Healing the Mitochondria

Healing the mitochondria

Recognizing mitochondria as a life form is the first step. The primordial sentience allowed different species of life forms such as the archaea and bacteria to form symbiotic relationships to result in the formation of a complex eukaryotic cell that ultimately led to multicellular life. From that viewpoint, let us look at the health of these mitochondrial beings as a required step to human health and wellness. There are many areas of interest and let us do a quick exploration.

Mitochondrial DNA mutations as well as nuclear DNA mutations can result in sleep disturbances. In the opposite stream, sleep deprivation impairs mitochondrial recuperation after a day of activities. The length of sleep and the quality of sleep is also very important.

Oxygen is required by the mitochondria to make energy be it as ATP or heat, The other use of oxygen is in the production of metabolic water. When oxygen delivery to the body is affected, be it a stuffy nose or low hemoglobin, or altered pH, the mitochondria suffers. A doctor has to look for all possibilities of oxygen deprivation literally and functionally

Toxins occur in many forms and enters the body through various avenues. Mitochondria as bacteria are very sensitive to toxins. We humans use many substances including medicines that are toxic to mitochondria. The chances for cells to turn cancerous is relatively high when they have prior exposure to mitochondrial toxins. The role of general and specific detoxification protocols is primal.

Mitochondria has two membranes, An inner bacterial membrane and an outer human derived membrane. The inner membrane is much more sensitive than the outer membranes to charge differences across the membranes. Essentially the inner matrix of the mitochondria is negatively charged relative to the intermembrane space and the outside of the mitochondria.

Salt balance is essential for the mitochondria to maintain a charge difference between the matrix and the inner membrane space. Mitochondria are like batteries and the proton pump integrity is important for its function. The proteins that stud the membrane allow passages for some charges. Maintaining an ionic balance is important for the property functions of mitochondria..

Electrical interference is common now that the use of electricity is ubiquitous. Accidental exposure to electric voltage is also common. These two facts change the mitochondrial integrity to such an extent that it may cause many chronic disorders including cancers. Avoidance is the best policy. Once damage has been inflicted, one can do little to treat it. Grounding is a good protocol.

Ionizing radiation bathes us constantly. On top of that we have radiating towers, phones, electrical and electronic gadgets that relentlessly are trying to alter the cell structure and functions. Mitochondria is acutely sensitive and altered functions are the result.

Mitochondrial supplements are usually coenzymes that play a role in mito functions. Some or many reactions could be limited when externally supplied vitamins and minerals are lacking. Supplementing these with the hope that these will reach the exact spot where they may work is worth a try. A supplement taken in orally has to be digested, absorbed and the subunits reach the cells, and further get into the cells and finally, into the mitochondria.

Mitochondrial support is required when some functions are beyond repair. Mito support is also offered when healing is premium. The support lubricates the production of ATP and sometimes electron donors can be used to support the damaged electron transport chain.

The right physical exercises can make sure that all ATP produced by a person is used properly. Any leftover ATP can feed back into mitochondrial activities and promote production of reactive oxygen species.

The extremities of a human being are negatively charged and the head is positive. Charge accumulation might occur at the macroscopic level which needs discharging  or earthing. These days people are seldom barefooted, making electrical contact with the ground. In the microscopic extreme, the mitochondria needs electron which the earth has in abundance/ Grounding or earthing can be a boon for mitochondrial health.

This overview has not covered all possibilities to heal the mitochondria but I have covered all important aspects. I would consider this as an incomplete list still, following this list as a blueprint for mitochondrial healing might yield good benefits.
